BALANCED ATTACK LEADS FALCONS OVER LIBERTY

Seven different goal-scorers contributed as the Falcons soared past host Liberty in Sykesville on Monday afternoon. The 7-0 victory was the second straight by the same score for the Forcey Footballers who improved to 4-0 on the season and have yet to surrender a goal.

The Falcons scored the fastest goal in their history just twenty seconds into the match. Emmeric Scott stole the ball from a Liberty player, carried into the attacking zone, and crossed a pass to the top of the box. Harrison Duran received, took a touch to his right, and buried a left-footed shot for his first tally of the season. Just a minute later, Matthias Foster let one fly from the top of the box to notch his third goal in three games. And less than a minute later, Scott settled a ball just inside the box and sent a shot past the keeper for his fourth goal of the year. In the seventh minute, Mariano Carballo pounced on a weak clearance by a Liberty defender and drilled a one-timer from about 15 yards out for his first goal of the season. And in the fifteenth minute, Lucas “Gunner” Rockhill picked up where he left off from his hat trick last game and bullied his way through traffic to knock another one over the line for the Falcons. Rockhill’s fourth goal of the season left Forcey with a 5-0 advantage at halftime.

In the second half, the Falcons were limited by their coach to two touches but still dominated the possession. They worked hard to connect passes and earn the right for players who hadn’t scored yet on the season to attempt shots. Starting keeper Ivan Bryan moved to the striker position and had some fun in someone else’s box for once. He ran onto a bouncing ball near the keeper and helped it home for his second career goal. Later, third-year defender Tireni Omotayo-Benson moved up the pitch to knock in a cross from Duran for his first career tally. More than any individual moment, though, the story of the game was the constant and unselfish Falcon possession, and everyone contributed.

After winning handily for the second straight occasion, Forcey returns home on Friday at 4:00 to face a tougher challenge from the visiting Cougars from Covenant Life. The Cougars will arrive for the league battle at Fairland Recreational Park looking to avenge a 2-0 defeat two weeks ago. The game will kick-off a special “Homecoming Weekend” for Forcey, so the Falcons should get a boost of energy from their spirited fans to help them keep their streak going.
