Huge Win for Forcey Boys

The Forcey boys basketball team added another chapter to their thrilling rivalry with Takoma Academy Prep Thursday night, scoring the last five points of the game to win, 65-60, before a raucous crowd at SASDAC.

Last week at the Maryland Excel Holiday Tournament at Spencerville Adventist Academy, the Falcons lost badly to TA Prep, 44-31, after beating the Tigers for the tournament title the previous two years. But Thursday night, Forcey center Jordan Seaton was back on the floor after missing the previous weekend for a football tournament, and the Falcons were a different team.

Forcey took an early lead behind the three-point shooting of Amir Morton and Jack Jacques, but TA Prep got hot and tied the game at 35-35 at halftime. The game stayed close the entire second half and went into the final minute tied at 60-60. But Falcon star Xavier Pickett forced a turnover and drove for one of his many tough layups on the night, and after the Tigers missed at the other end, Forcey got the rebound and Seaton hit a back-breaking jumper from the baseline with less than 30 seconds left to pretty much seal the win.

The two teams will meet one more time on Jan. 30 in Takoma Park, so there will likely be more drama in store. The Forcey boys head into the Christmas break with a lofty 10-2 record.
