Basketball Tryouts

Basketball tryouts are coming up fast! Sign-up sheets are filling up! Read this information carefully! 

What You Need for Tryouts: 

• - Players must have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 and no failing grades. No excuses about grades! 
• - Players must wear shorts, t-shirts and appropriate basketball shoes. 
• - Players may not wear jewelry, watches, rubber bands, hats, jean shorts, jeans, etc. 
• - Players should BRING THEIR OWN WATER BOTTLE to practice. 
• - The cuts will be made after tryouts. 

Criteria for Making the Team:
We are looking for players with the following characteristics: 

• - Good student, good attitude and behavior in the classroom. We will be looking at demerits. 
• - Gives 100% effort at all times. Maximum effort is required by all players for a team to be successful. 
• - Players who are in shape. You should be getting in shape NOW! We will be doing lots of running! You should be running sprints, running distance for endurance, and doing exercises to get stronger on a daily basis. Remember, every day you sit on the couch doing nothing, someone else is out working hard trying to take your spot. 
• - Good team player. Unselfish. Gets along with teammates. Supports teammates at all times. Coachable. Ability to follow directions. Listens to constructive criticism from coaches and teammates. 
• - Positive attitude at all times. 
• - Good basketball skills - dribbling, passing, defense, shooting, etc. You should be working on these skills every day between now and October 26th/27th 
• - Commitment to team - 2 to 4 days a week, Thanksgiving break, Christmas break.
• - Understanding that just because you were on the team last season, does not guarantee you a spot for this season.
